Podolski hints at Cologne exit

Lukas Podolski has hinted that he will leave Cologne at the end of the season, admitting he felt let down by the club s broken promises.

The Germany international has claimed that he decided to rejoin his hometown club from Bayern Munich in 2009, after being sold on an ambitious sporting project which aimed to establish Cologne as one of the top six sides in the Bundesliga.

However, with the club currently hovering in mid-table, Podolski who is out of contract at the end of next season is feeling increasingly disillusioned and pessimistic about their future prospects.

I was told that the club wanted to build a team around me that would be among the top eight in the league before then establishing itself in the top six and I committed myself to the move (to Koln…

Raphael Guerreiro and Thomas Muller score for Bayern in victory over Koln

A superb second-half strike by Raphael Guerreiro helped Bayern Munich to a 2-0 win against Koln and keep the champagne on ice in Leverkusen.

Defeat for Thomas Tuchel’s side would have confirmed Bayer Leverkusen as Bundesliga champions but the current holders claimed a hard-fought victory.

It had been a difficult period for Bayern, who had lost both league fixtures since the international break, but they battled to a 2-2 draw at Arsenal on Tuesday night in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.

Manchester United eyeing Allen

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen,.

The twenty-six year old was one of the stand out performers for Wales at this summer’s European Championships as Chris Coleman’s side beat the odds to reach the semi-finals.

However, Reds’ manager Jurrgen Klopp is willing to listen to offers for the midfielder, who signed from Swansea City in the summer of 2012.

The Welsh outfit have also expressed an interest to re-sign Allen, who played one hundred and fifty times for the Swans before moving on.

He has been capped thirty-one times for his country while he was also part of the Great Britain squad that participated at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

FIFA director of communications steps down

Walter De Gregorio, FIFA s director of communications and public affairs, has resigned his position with immediate effect.

De Gregorio was responsible for conducting FIFA s initial press conference after a number of officials from world football s governing body had been arrested in Zurich ahead of last month s FIFA Congress.

He was also present last week as FIFA president Sepp Blatter announced his intention to stand down amid the corruption scandal engulfing the organisation.

De Gregorio will now leave the position he took up in September 2011 though it is unclear whether his departure is related to a joke he made at FIFA s expense during an appearance on the Schawinski show in Switzerland earlier this week.

In that show, De Gregorio said: The Fifa pres…

Trapp ready to leave PSG, says agent

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Kevin Trapp wants to leave in the transfer window in search of regular football, according to his agent.

The Germany international, who was signed from Eintracht Frankfurt for around €10million in July 2015, has failed to displace Alphonse Areola from the first team this season.

Crystal Palace have recently been linked with an ambitious attempt to bring the 27-year-old to the Premier League, while he has also been linked with Liverpool due to concerns about the form of Simon Mignolet.

His representative, Jorg Neubauer, has admitted Trapp will look to move on from the Ligue 1 leaders if they are willing to sell next month.

If there s a chance in the winter, Kevin wants to leave Paris, Neubauer told Sport 1.

Casillas dismisses favourites tag

Iker Casillas has revealed he and his Spain team-mates do not see themselves as favourites ahead of their Euro 2012 final against Italy.

The Real Madrid and Spain captain, 31, lavished praise on their opponents as they warm up to face a team they have yet to beat in normal play in competitive internationals.

We do not think we re the favourites, quite the contrary. Both teams have an equal chance, Casillas said.

Italy have a great team. For us it was no surprise that they joined us here in the final, they showed their quality and reached the final with a great performance (against Germany).

Spain met Italy in the quarter-final phase of Euro 2008, winning in a penalty shoot-out on their way to their second European Championship title.

Leon returns to Getafe

Pedro Leon will be wearing the Getafe jersey again in the 2012-13 La Liga campaign.

Real Madrid have agreed to ship the 25-year-old winger out on loan for another season.

Leon joined Madrid after an impressive 2009-10 campaign, but has never nailed down a place in Jose Mourinho s plans.

He fell out favour with Mourinho after a disappointing first season at the Santiago Bernabeu, and was consequently loaned back to Getafe for 2011-12.

Getafe lack the financial resources to re-sign Pedro Leon on a permanent basis, but will now have the attacking midfielder at their disposal once more following Madrid s decision to allow him to renew his loan.

Both sides have yet to confirm the transfer, but the move is expected to be made official in the upcoming d…

Paris Saint-Germain winger Lucas Moura says he hopes to one day return to former club Sao Paulo in his native Brazil.

The 24-year-old joined PSG in a big-money move from Sao Paulo in 2013, having broken into the Brazil team two years earlier, and has since established himself as a key player for the Ligue 1 champions.
