Seeds decided for Euro play-offs

Portugal, Croatia, Republic of Ireland and Czech Republic are the four seeded teams in Thursday s Euro 2012 play-off draw in Krakow.

Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia and Montenegro are the four unseeded teams.

Portugal, captained by Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, missed out on automatic qualification after losing 2-1 to Denmark in their final match of Group H on Tuesday.

The Republic of Ireland secured a play-off berth courtesy of a 2-1 home win over Armenia.

Both teams could be drawn against 2008 semi-finalists Turkey.

Of the other unseeded teams, Bosnia and Herzegovina are not to be taken lightly after finishing a point behind France in Group D.

Prior to that, they were second only to eventual winners Spain in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup.

Montenegro also gave a good account of themselves in their bid to reach Euro 2012 automatically, pushing England all the way in Group G.

The playoff draw will be conducted at the Sheraton hotel in Krakow by UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino and former Poland international Zbigniew Boniek.

The first legs of the play-offs take place on November 11 and 12, with the return fixtures to be played on November 15.

Defending champions Spain, along with Russia, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Greece, England and Denmark all automatically qualified for next year s finals in Poland and Ukraine.

Sweden also reached the tournament as the runner-up with the best record in the group stages.

The draw for the finals will be held on December 2 in Kiev, with the tournament running from June 8 until July 1.
